Ebola in Bunia: More than 2,000 students sensitized on prevention

Bunia, October 1st, 2026 (CPA).- More than 2,000 students from Fabia School Complex, from kindergarten to secondary school, were sensitized on the prevention of Ebola virus disease (EVD) as part of response activities conducted by the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), according to a statement reviewed by CPA on Thursday. “This activity enabled the students to better understand the disease, particularly its main modes of transmission and the behaviors to adopt to reduce the risk of infection,” the statement said. The awareness-raising session was interactive, fostering dynamic exchanges between the students and INSP teams on EVD prevention measures. A practical demonstration of hygienic hand washing was also organized to strengthen the adoption of proper practices within the school community. In addition, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were provided to the school to enable the continuation of these awareness-raising activities. According to Ms. Fura Fifi, head of Fabia School Complex, the initiative meets a genuine need and should be regularly repeated in schools.  Through these actions, the INSP seeks to strengthen information and prevention in school settings in order to contribute to better community preparedness in the face of Ebola virus disease, it was noted.
