Kinshasa, October 1st, 2026 (CPA).- The various achievements recorded under its “Kinshasa Ezo Bonga” program were presented on Wednesday by the provincial governor to the Provincial Assembly during the parliamentary session opening in the Congolese capital. “This session, mainly devoted to examining the City’s budget for the next fiscal year, as well as reviewing the accounts for the past fiscal year, gives the Provincial Executive an opportunity to present to the capital’s lawmakers the main achievements recorded under its ‘Kinshasa Ezo Bonga’ program. These achievements include road construction and rehabilitation works, with more than 160 kilometers already completed and more than 600 kilometers currently under construction, as well as the structural reform of the former Kinshasa General Revenue Directorate (DGRK),” said Daniel Bumba, Governor of Kinshasa. According to the city authority, the reform led in particular to the creation of two specialized revenue agencies with clearly defined responsibilities: the Kinshasa Provincial Tax Directorate (DGIPK), responsible for the mobilization and collection of tax revenues, and the Kinshasa Tax Directorate (DGTK), responsible for managing duties, taxes and fees falling within the city’s jurisdiction. “Undertaken to strengthen the traceability of transactions, reduce revenue leakages and improve the performance of Kinshasa’s own-resource mobilization system, this reform aims to increase the city’s financial capacity and provide the Provincial Government with the resources needed to implement its action program,” he continued. Regarding sanitation, the governor said the Provincial Executive had decided to step up its efforts by launching construction work on more than 400 temporary waste disposal areas, intended to store waste before it is transported to the Mpasa site. “This initiative is notably aimed at providing the Congolese capital, which generates nearly 20,000 tons of waste every day, with a more efficient, structured waste management system adapted to the challenges of urban sanitation,” he concluded.
