Kinshasa, September 17th, 2025 (CPA). – Young businesswomen were encouraged on Wednesday to make sufficient use of new information and communication technologies (NICT) to develop their commercial activities in Kinshasa (capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo), during a discussion with the Vice-President of the Congo Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ARPTC).
‘Today, in general, Congolese women do not dare enough (…) in technology, even though technology remains an important means of development and promotion, because it helps us to inform, train, protect and react to the proliferation of scams and hacking of our sites,’ has said Lydie Omanga Dihandju, Vice-President of Arptc and President of the association ‘Femme d’exception du Congo’ (Fdec).
‘Faced with the proliferation of online scams and piracy, the major initiative that ARPTC is working on to protect citizens is cybersecurity and digital trust, because we must ensure that the website can develop. And that websites and e-commerce sites are certified so that people who come to buy or use their bank card details know that they are visiting a secure site.’ she added. According to her, technology provides an opportunity to transform societies and empower young entrepreneurs in DRC. She reaffirmed the ARPTC’s commitment to working with numerous partners to promote digital technology, which has evolved in certain countries in Africa and around the world.
People today need to understand that the ARPTC is not only a regulator, but also a mentor and trainer. ‘Leaving abroad to return to my country has allowed me to regain my freedom, within my organisation of exceptional women in Congo, where we work to help transformational leadership emerge,’ has concluded Lydie Omanga.
