Emergency Arab-Islamic summit begins in Doha

In addition, the emergency Arab-Islamic summit opened on Monday in Doha to discuss Israel’s attack on Qatar.

This summit, which comes in the wake of the aggression against the State of Qatar, is a renewed opportunity for the member states of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to examine the latest developments in the Middle East and strengthen their common position in this regard. The summit is examining a draft declaration on the Israeli army’s strikes on September 9th against the State of Qatar, which for the past two years has been mediating to end Israel’s on-going offensive in Gaza against the Palestinian Islamist movement (Hamas).

For its part, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the Arab-Islamic summit at this particular time has several meanings and symbolic significance, reflecting broad Arab and Islamic solidarity with the State of Qatar in the face of Israel’s attack on the residences of Hamas leaders, as well as these states’ categorical rejection of Israeli terrorism.
