It is in this context that the bank injected US$50 million at an exchange rate of 2040 CDF/US dollar in order to meet the banking system’s need for foreign currency liquidity and put an end to speculation by economic operators. It said it would continue to sell foreign currency in order to boost confidence in the formal banking system and meet the needs of economic operators. However, this policy of the Central Bank of Congo has been successful in lowering the rate charged by manual money changers on the parallel and interbank markets.
