Inongo, September 17th, 2025 (CPA).- A conference on the popularization of the texts of the reform of the police for the benefit of political and administrative authorities and civil society was launched in Inongo, the main town of the province of Maï-Ndombe, in the south-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has observed the CPA on Wednesday.
‘It is with pleasure and a deep sense of commitment that we meet once again today in this room for the opening of the conference to disseminate the texts of the Congolese National Police (PNC) reform, organised for the benefit of political and administrative authorities, PNC executives, members of civil society and all stakeholders,’ has declared the General Jean Remy Nkanga Ilunga, head of the delegation of the Executive Secretary of the Congolese National Police Monitoring Committee, who has come from Kinshasa for this event. According to him, this campaign aims to raise awareness and promote the legal texts governing the PNC, in particular by developing the relevant provisions of Articles 182 to 184 of the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
« It is therefore essential that all the stakeholders involved: local authorities, police officers and members of civil society take it to heart in order to ensure a better understanding of how the Congolese National Police operates and of the collaboration between the various stakeholders. I hope that this meeting will enable everyone to fully assume their role in building a truly republican, professional, modern and human rights-respecting police force, » has added the General Jean Remy Nkanga Ilunga. For its part, the provincial authority of Maï-Ndombe has welcomed the holding of this conference to raise awareness of police reform and wished all the delegations a pleasant stay in its province. « Dear participants, I welcome you to the city of Inongo and wish you full success in the proceedings of this workshop. As the security is a fundamental and permanent need, it is imperative that the population benefits from it in conditions of dignity, justice and respect for fundamental freedoms. It is with this in mind that the legislator has put in place a clear and structured legal framework defining the role of each actor, » has emphasised Lebon Nkoso Kevani, governor of the province of Maï-Ndombe.
It should be noted that this conference to raise awareness of police reform is being held over a period of three days. CPA/
