Kinshasa, January 12th, 2026 (CPA).- The introduction of sanitation certificates has been announced on Monday by an environmental expert during a meeting organised for sectorial agents in the municipality of Kasa-Vubu, in the centre of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. ‘As part of the fight against disease vectors and the restoration of order in sanitation operations, we are now implementing a sanitation certificate in all municipalities of Funa. The certificate will be introduced in the coming days,’ has declared Fiance Kambe, head of the Kinshasa Environment Division. ‘This official document, introduced following a decree signed by former governor Gentiny Ngobila, is mandatory after each vector control operation. It will be signed by two sanitation technicians and countersigned by me,’ he has added. Mr Kambe has explained that this certificate will be issued after each operation involving dissection, complete disinfection and rodent control, with the cost of the certificate varying according to the activity carried out. According to him, its purpose is to certify that the operation has indeed been carried out on the premises concerned. He plans to extend the application of this certificate to the municipal level so that local authorities can also supervise these operations with those subject to them. « Inspectors are not authorised to collect money from economic operators under any circumstances. No payments should be made in cash or handed directly to officers. All payments must be made exclusively through the bank. When conducting inspections of operators’ economic documents, I urge you to demonstrate professionalism, rigour and integrity. Avoid any form of compromise, » he has concluded. ACP/
