North Kivu: The proposed law on fixing the lower dowry compared to other priorities

Goma, July 24th, 2021 (CPA).- The draft law on the fixing of the dowry in DR Congo is not timely, said Vicar Batundi, urban president of civil society on Thursday in Goma.

For this actor of civil society, « there are matters which must be discussed in Parliament because they affect the daily life of the population ».

He referred to the growing insecurity criticized almost everywhere in the country, most notably in the provinces of South Kivu and North Kivu as well as in Ituri.

Thinking about the fixing of the dowry by the deputies is a waste of time because according to him, this matter is purely community and the dowry is fixed according to the habits and customs.

Several matters can be discussed in parliament, such as the question of nationality and electoral law, which are valid because they are problematic, says Vicar.

As a reminder, in this bill, the dowry is limited to 500 US dollars. ACP/Fng/nig
