DRC: Launching of the Grande Rentree Litteraire to promote literature

Kinshasa, September 18th, 2025 (CPA).– The 9th edition of the Grande Rentree Litteraire (Great Literary Season), dedicated to promoting Congolese literature and creating a space for discussion around books, has been launched on Thursday at the Wallonia-Brussels Centre in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, by the Minister in charge of Culture, Arts, and Heritage.

« It is with immense pleasure and deep emotion that I stand before you for the launching of the ninth edition of the Grande Rentree Litteraire of the Wallonia-Brussels Centre, under the auspices of a theme of singular force: ‘Women’s Voices, Echoes of Resilience: When Literature Builds Peace,” has declared Yolande Elebe Ma Ndebo, Minister in charge of Culture, Arts and Heritage.

“This theme alone is an homage to the creative power of women. To the heroines of our country, particularly those in the east who, for three decades, have faced the storm of conflict, enduring the unspeakable: exile, violence, mutilation. And yet they stand tall and indomitable,” she has added. The resilience of Congolese women, according to the minister, is well established, adding that they should be listened to, read, shared, respected and, above all, celebrated.
