Kinshasa, September 16th, 2025 (CPA). – In her book entitled ‘School is not enough’, writer Julie Pinga Pinga from the Democratic Republic of Congo invites parents to play a full role in their children’s education, CPA has learned on Tuesday during an interview with the author. « The title “School is not enough” expresses an essential truth about a child’s educational success, which does not depend solely on school, but also requires strong involvement from parents and family. Education is a bridge with two pillars: school and home; if one weakens, the child falters, » has declared Julie Pinga Pinga, author of the book.
‘In DRC, many parents today reduce their children’s schooling to simply paying school fees, forgetting that education and morality must be closely monitored and nurtured by conscious parental presence,’ she has added. This book has reminded parents of the indispensability of their role in relation to their progeny in order to complement and support the work of teachers.
The book has addressed the monitoring of academic progress, school-family collaboration, the moral and spiritual values to be transmitted, and the character formation of children in a fragile educational context in DRC. Julie Pinga Pinga also relies on her observations as a school principal, her personal experiences with academic and social challenges, and her conviction that real change begins at home. ‘My personal experience with academic and social challenges, the conviction that real change begins at home. I myself have seen bright children fail due to a lack of family support and others who were struggling rise up thanks to their parents’ commitment,’ she has concluded. This 101-page work was published in Kinshasa by Pistos Editions. It features a preface by Rufus Mata Baluvuidi, author, publisher and coordinator of LCMOSP-RDC.
