Kinshasa, May 31st, 2021 (CPA) .- Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo on Saturday proceeded to the ceremony of canonical possession of Bishop José Bernard Likolo at the episcopal see of the diocese of Lisala in the ecclesiastical province of Mbandaka in the administrative province of Mongala , learned Sunday, the CPA of the CENCO.
Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo has in his message during the Eucharistic celebration he presided over on Saturday, at the centenary platform of the Saint Hermes Cathedral in Lisala, urged the inhabitants of the province of Mongala, particularly politicians to the reconciliation with a view to devoting oneself to works to alleviate somehow the suffering of the people of God.
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Kinshasa and Cardinal of the Universal Catholic Church invited each of the actors to collaborate with Bishop José Bernard Likolo, in order to seek concrete solutions to the many problems facing the population in addition to erosions, rivalry and divisions.
The president of CENCO, Mgr Marcel Utembi, for his part, asked to maintain the flame of the warmth of welcome today for the progress of the diocese because, he stressed, a bishop is a gift of God to his people, his own pastor and we must listen to him without any ethnic consideration because he has benefited from the confidence of Pope Francis.
The delegate of the President of the Republic Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the Minister of Land Affairs Sakombi, conveyed his congratulations to Bishop José Likolo and reiterated his commitment to consolidate and strengthen collaboration between the State and the Catholic Church.
Several personalities, religious as well as politico-administrative and military in particular, the Apostolic Nuncio of the DRC, Bishop Ettore Balestrero, the vice-president of CENCO, Bishop José Moko. Bishop José Bernard Likolo was appointed by Pope Francis bishop of the diocese of Lisala on February 15, 2021, it is recalled.
