The Leopards meet the ground on Wednesday at the TP Mazembe stadium

Kinshasa, September 1st, 2021 (CPA). – Leopards A of the DR Congo will meet the ground on Wednesday at the TP Mazembe stadium in Lubumbashi where they arrived Tuesday evening in anticipation of the match against the “Taifa Stars” of Tanzania, scheduled Thursday, within the framework of the 1st day of the qualifiers for the World Cup, Qatar 2022, announced Tuesday to the CPA the communication direction of the Congolese Federation of association football (FECOFA).

The Congolese beasts trained on Tuesday morning at the Ujana field at the Père Raphaël de la Kethulle stadium under the direction of coach Hector Cuper, before flying off the same day for Lubumbashi. 22 players took part in this training session to their heart’s content, namely Joël Kiassumbua, Hervé Lomboto, Dieumerci Mukoko Amale, Glody Ngonda Muzinga, Vital N’simba, Chris Mavinga, Chancel Mbemba Mangulu, Edo Kayembe, Samuel Moutoussamy, Fabrice Ngoma, Cédric Bakambu, Ben Malango Ngita, Britt Assombalonga, Yannick Bangala Litombo, Samuel Bastien, Chadrack Akolo, Jonathan Bolingi Mpangi, Gaël Kakuta, Joël Ngandu, Mfulu Omenuke, Charles Pikel and Lionnel Mpasi Nzau. Dieumerci Mbokani Benzua joined the squad after training while already in Kinshasa.

Christian Luyindama, Marcel Tisserand and Yannick Bolasie arrived Kinshasa at noon on Tuesday and joined the group from Kinshasa to travel to Lubumbashi and the junction with Djo Issama Mpeko and Baggio Ngusia.

Immediately after this meeting, the Leopards will take a chartered flight to Cotonou, in Benin, where they will face the Squirrels of Benin, on Monday, September 6th  at the General Mathieu Kérékou stadium, on behalf of the second day.

11 Leopards in physical training

 The first 11 Leopards to gather in Kinshasa engaged in a weight training session at the Congo River Hotel on Monday, which was supervised by the physical trainer Sarioglou Antonios, in the presence of the coach Hector Cuper Raul and his two assistants, Fantaguzzi José Carlos and Daouda Lupembe.

According to the official website of the Congolese Football Association (FECOFA), the 11 players were divided into two groups at the rate of 5 for the first and 6 for the second. The 5 exercised on the treadmill, while the other 6 applied cardiovascular exercises and vice versa for 70 minutes.

At the end of this training session in the weight room, the players and members of the technical staff underwent Covid-19 tests. The 11 wild beasts from DR Congo present at the training session are: Cédric Bakambu, Ben Malango Ngita, Britt Assombalonga, Fabrice Ngoma Lwamba, Samuel Moutoussamy, Yannick Bangala Litombo, Chris Mavinga, Glody Ngonda Muzinga, Mukoko Amale, Hervé Lomboto and Bastien Samuel

Visit to the Martyrs Stadium

On the same day, the Leopards visited the Pentecostal Martyrs Stadium in the company of national coach Hector Cuper to see the progress of the rehabilitation works of this amphitheater. The visitors, who joined the Minister of Sports, Serge Nkonde Chemvo, were edified by the work on the new hybrid synthetic turf. ACP/
