Kolwezi, October 23rd, 2025 (CPA).- The support has been requested from the provincial government of Lualaba, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, by the Congolese Environment Agency (ACE), during a meeting granted to its General Director by the Deputy Governor, the CPA has learned on Thursday from an official source. « We came first to introduce ourselves, but also to discuss with the provincial authorities in order to request their support, because the Congolese Environment Agency in Lualaba is a young organisation that we established a few years ago. We need this support so that environmental protection can truly become a reality in Lualaba,‘ has said Jean-Claude Emene, Director General of the ACE.
’We greatly appreciate everything that is being done in Lualaba in terms of infrastructure. The environment deserves to be properly protected so that we can leave a healthy and safe environment for future generations, » he has added. The General Director of ACE and the Deputy Governor of Lualaba have also discussed the establishment of an environmental monitoring team responsible for carrying out regular inspections in mining areas to ensure compliance with current environmental standards. Deputy Governor Clément Mufundji has promised to report to the provincial authority on the effectiveness of this support. This meeting is part of the Congolese Environment Agency’s national mission to assess the implementation of environmental policies in the field and promote responsible ecological governance throughout the country.
